There are 4 groups that must work together to make community schools succeed:
The District Administration
The Funding Community
The Educators and Staff
The Parents and Neighborhoods
If these groups do not work together the project of schooling our children suffers.
If these relationships break, schooling begins to fail.
Given enough time it will collapse completely.
Over the past 3 years I have talked to people from all of these groups.
I have reached an inescapable conclusion:
All of these relationships are damaged to some degree.
Some are broken.
None of them are yet fully destroyed.
None of them are healing well.
How did it get like this?
Trust has broken down.
I firmly believe trust is the core of this problem.
The result is communication has also broken down.
These groups cannot talk to each other anymore to enable the healing process.
Wooster is stuck.
I have thought for over a year about these problems.
I have some ideas.
It is not quite time for them yet.
After the May election is done, then it will be time.
This will involve the whole community because only the whole community can fix this.
If you want to help heal Wooster’s school system, contact me.
There will be work to do.
